Bloop Blossoms
Handmade ceramic bee waterers designed to give bees a safe, clean drinking source right in your garden. Modelled on a poppy blossom, each bowl is individually thrown on the wheel and kiln-fired with a textured glaze — developed over 15 years of observation to match exactly what bees need: the right rim depth, the right surface grip, and the right placement signal.
- Handmade in North Carolina — every piece individually wheel-thrown
- Textured glaze rim gives bees secure footing on landing
- Calibrated rim depth (approx. ½ inch) — deep enough to hold water, shallow enough to prevent drowning
- Blossom shape acts as a natural visual signal that bees recognise
- Weatherproof ceramic — suitable for year-round outdoor use
- Low maintenance: one morning refill lasts the full day when placed in shade
- Each piece is unique — glaze colour and texture vary naturally batch to batch
Design Details
🌸 Blossom Shape
Open, round form reads as a natural flower to bees navigating by blossom shape — placed among plants, it blends in and draws them in.
🐝 Calibrated Rim Depth
The functional water depth sits within a ~½ inch window. Too shallow and bees slip off; too deep and they drown. This bowl sits precisely in range.
✋ Rough-Glaze Landing Surface
The rim is intentionally left slightly textured from the kiln — not a flaw, but a grip surface that lets bees land safely on a wet edge.
☀️ Shade-Optimised
Placed in a flower bed rather than on open concrete, the same bowl holds water ~3× longer — one fill in the morning lasts through peak afternoon heat.
